Owning a car is more than just getting from A to B, it’s freedom, responsibility, and for many of us, a lifelong passion. For new and young drivers in Australia, that journey can be exciting, but also a little overwhelming.

Woodwin Auto Tips exists to make that road smoother (hopefully).

My Story

I’m a dad who’s been through this journey twice, first as a young driver myself many years ago in a small country town and again, more recently (though even that was quite a few years back) helping my child navigate everything from learner plates to that first car purchase.

Born from a love of motoring and a deep nostalgia for the style and character of cars from years gone by, this site blends practical guidance with personal reflection.

Over the years, I’ve learned through experience, curiosity, and a fair share of trial and error, oh yes, plenty of errors, in fact. I’ve made more costly mistakes from not reading instructions or not seeking professional advice then I care to remember.  I’ve discovered the hard way that “shortcuts” rarely work out the way your mates reckon they will.

It’s taken me a long time to understand what really matters when it comes to car ownership, so don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s taking you a while to “find your feet” on your own motoring journey.

I’m not a mechanic, engineer, or automotive industry insider. I’m simply a car enthusiast who believes that personal knowledge, views, ideas, and philosophies in the automotive world are worth sharing,  because you just never know, one idea might make all the difference to someone, someday.

What began as a reflection on my own trials and tribulations has grown into something bigger: a place where you’ll find encouragement, clear and down‑to‑earth explanations, and the kind of tips you wish someone had given you last week.
